In rural Alaska, people depend on subsistence hunting and fishing in order to acquire their daily food. On the other hand, Alaska is part of the American capitalism and global economy. 80% of the state revenue comes from oil and gas. This seminar introduces how the federal and state governments as well as Indigenous Peoples challenge ongoing climate change, wildlife management, and sustainable development in Alaska, and protect their traditional ways of life.
