Kyushu University has 202 Korean students (8.9%, as of 2021), the second-largest number after China. It has academic and student exchange agreements with about 60 universities in Korea, including KAIST, Seoul National University, and Pohang University of Technology (POSTECH), and has established and operated Kyushu University Seoul Office. Further, the "Kyushu University Center for Korean Studies," was established in December 1999 and has been actively conducting research meetings, symposiums, and seminars. Kyushu University School of Human-Environment Studies, Pusan National University School of Architecture, and Tongji University (Sustainable Urban Architectural Environment in Asia, SUAE), Kyushu University, Pusan National University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Energy and Environmental Science and Technology, Advanced School of International Alliance, EEST ASIA), to nurture researchers who can work globally.
