Professor Tanaka has been appointed as an advisor to the Yakushima Environmental and Cultural Foundation (Chairman: Koji Nakamura, Advisor to Minami Nippon Broadcasting). The Yakushima Environmental and Cultural Foundation is a long-standing organization established in 1993 with funding from Kagoshima Prefecture and Yakushima Town to protect the natural environment of the World Natural Heritage site and foster community development that coexists with nature.

At the same board meeting, Prof. Juichi Yamagiwa (Director of the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature / Former President of Kyoto University) was appointed as a special advisor to the foundation.
