On July 8, 2025, Prof Tanaka's project was selected for funding by the Mishima Kaiun Memorial Foundation (Specific Research Grant/Innovative Research). The grant will be awarded for three years starting in July 2025, totaling 15 million yen. The theme of the project is “Scientific Elucidation of Endangered Fermented Foods for the Preservation of Culinary Cultural Diversity.” This is a collaborative research project with Professor Maruyama of the University of Tokyo and Professor Doi of Kyushu University (Q-AOS Nature Cluster). At the award ceremony held on July 4 at the Tokyo Kaikan, Associate Professor Tanaka delivered a speech as the representative recipient. The selection rate was a highly competitive 9.5%.
