Announcement of Dr.PUI's visit as a Visiting Scholar

Kyushu University Institute for Asian and Oceanian Studies (Q-AOS) is pleased to welcome Dr. Alexander PUI as a Visiting Scholar to Q-AOS.
At Q-AOS, he would work with Associate Professor Kim SCHUMACHER, Deputy Leader of the Q-AOS Industry Cluster on the KAKEN project “Competence Greenwashing: The impact of ESG skills misrepresentation on corporate sustainability performance” (24K16445; https://kaken.nii.ac.jp/en/grant/KAKENHI-PROJECT-24K16445 ) as a close project-level research collaborator. The initial visiting research period covers one year, having started from March 2025, likely to be extended to cover the entire 3-year duration of the KAKEN project.
Dr. PUI is an Adjunct Fellow at the Climate Change Research Centre at the University of New South Wales (UNSW; https://www.unsw.edu.au/research/ccrc/about-us/our-people/affiliates-and-visitors/alexander-pui-profile), and former RMIA Risk Leader of the Year. He is currently Senior Vice President at Marsh Japan.
Previously he was Group Head Climate Analytics at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and as Head Sustainability and Nat Cat (APAC) with Swiss Re, Alex founded the award winning 'Climate Risk Solutions' service as well as the world's first parametric haze solution ("HazeShield", co-developed with Harvard University) to insure against smoke haze pollution from transboundary South East Asian haze from Indonesian forest fires.
He holds a Bachelor of Law (LLB) and PhD in Applied Statistics (majoring in Climate Science) from UNSW.
Given his excellent sustainability and climate-related research skills and strong connections to the Asia-Oceania region, we at Q-AOS look forward to our collaboration with Dr. PUI.
