As of 2026, the tourism industry has become Japan's second-largest export industry after the automotive sector, and it is projected to become the country's largest export industry in the 2030s.
With its excellent accessibility to major Asian cities such as Seoul, Taipei, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, Kyushu has enormous potential as a model region for Japan's tourism-driven growth. The success of the luxury cruise train "Seven Stars in Kyushu" is one notable example of this potential.
