Abstract
In the medical field of obstetrics and gynecology in Japan, there is an urgent need to address the regional maldistribution of doctors, support for returning to work after maternity leave, and, academically, ethical responses to personal and genetic information as comprehensive genome searches become possible. Socially, there is a mountain of issues, including problems related to non-invasive prenatal genetic testing (NIPT) and preimplantation genetic testing (PGT-A/SR, PGT-M), and sexual reproductive health/rights (SRHR),. Considering these issues as a whole, the key words for the future are “adaptation to diversity” and “collaboration.
I believe that three things are important: 1) establishing a safe and secure medical system for patients, 2) increasing the number of obstetricians and gynecologists, and 3) helping physicians return to work after a leave of absence. In this lecture, I would like to consider these issues.
