Abstract
Bisphenol A (BPA) is used worldwide as a raw material for polycarbonate and epoxy resins. However, it is also known to be a toxic environmental chemical that disrupts the effects of female hormones. Consequently, alternatives to BPA are being used. In contrast, various actions that occur in the body are initiated by the binding of a substance such as a hormone to its target receptor. In this context, the structure of Bisphenol A could be used to create a chemical that successfully interferes with the effects of female hormones to create therapeutic drugs. In my talk, I will focus on the situation surrounding bisphenol A and similar chemicals and which receptors they bind to in the body, focusing on the "shape" of the molecules they bind to.
