Abstract
The Center for the Promotion of Advanced Science at Kagoshima University is its animal research facilities to create a center that can be used for experiments from small to large animals. This seminar will focus on three aspects of large animal research using miniature pigs, which is one of the most distinctive features of the diverse animal experiments conducted at Kagoshima University. Topics include: (1) the development and utilization of unique miniature swine (CLAWN miniature swine) developed at Kagoshima University; (2) research examples in various fields, such as medicine, pharmacy, and agriculture, using miniature swine; and (3) cutting-edge research aimed at the clinical application of xenotransplantation using genetically engineered pigs as donors. Through these examples, we will discuss the potential for innovation and research support.
