Abstract
The number of patients with allergic diseases, including hay fever and food allergies, is increasing worldwide. Allergen immunotherapy is a treatment that can cure allergies, and in Japan, sublingual formulations have been approved for cedar pollen allergy and dust mite allergy. In contrast, injectable and sublingual formulations have been approved for a wide variety of aeroallergens in Europe and the United States, and Japan is lagging behind. Meanwhile, treatment of food allergies is not as common as treatment of aeroallergens due to the high risk of anaphylaxis, and is only performed at certain hospitals. In my research, I aim to develop a highly effective preparation for aeroallergens and food allergens that does not cause anaphylaxis.
