Abstract
Kyushu University has made significant strides in advancing the internationalization of its education. Key initiatives include establishing fully English-taught degree programs, expanding English-language course offerings, and creating more opportunities for Japanese students to study abroad. These efforts have successfully increased the number of international students on campus and Japanese students studying overseas. However, they have also brought new challenges to undergraduate education practices and graduate research supervision. In a multicultural academic setting, interactions between students and faculty from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds can often result in misunderstandings and conflicts. From the perspective of cross-cultural clinical psychology, this presentation will explore these challenges in depth. Examining cases in supporting international students will highlight common misconceptions in international student education and offer practical strategies for fostering effective cross-cultural communication.
