Abstract
Smart agriculture is getting attention as a solution to various challenges surrounding the agricultural industry, including increasing yields, achieving stable and planned production, saving energy and resources, sharing and inheriting technologies, saving labor, and adapting to climate change. Smart technologies are being developed across various agricultural practices, and greenhouse agriculture (protected horticulture) which is plant production conducted within facilities such as greenhouses and plant factories is one of the most actively advancing forms of smart agriculture.
The speaker has been working on visualizing production environments and plant eco-physiological information in greenhouse agriculture to identify limiting factors in production and develop efficient environmental control methods to address them. Specifically, the focus has been on the development of crop-localized environmental control technologies that regulate environment just around plants. This seminar will provide an accessible overview of these efforts.
