Türkiye and Japan celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2024.
However, the origins of the bond between Türkiye and Japan go back even further.
The solidarity between the peoples of the two countries has been deepened not only through the Ertugrul frigate disaster (1890) and the rescue of Japanese citizens during the Iran-Iraq War (1985), but also through mutual assistance during earthquakes.
This seminar will look back on the history of friendship and diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Japan, which have always reached out to each other in difficult situations, and introduce the current state and future prospects of the cooperative relationship between the two countries, which was elevated to a strategic partnership in 2013.
