Abstract
Electrodeposition (electroplating) is a surface treatment technique that forms a metallic coating (film), such as nickel, copper, or chromium on a substrate. The formation of the coating improves the corrosion resistance, hardness, and abrasion resistance of the materials (the objects to be plated), thereby extending its life. In addition, since the electrodeposition method does not require a high temperature or high vacuum environment, it can produce metallic films at low cost. Furthermore, electrodeposition is an environmentally friendly technology because it does not emit greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide during the synthesis process. In this seminar, the speaker will not only introduce research on applying this electrodeposition technology to surface treatment, but also research on using the electrodeposits themselves as functional metal materials (e.g. magnetic materials, electrode catalyst materials, and high-strength materials).
