Abstract
The formation of a gender-equal society is positioned as the most important issue that will determine our society in the 21st century. Japan's policies for gender equality have been pushed forward by the international community. In this seminar, we will review its history from the perspective of Japan in the world, and discuss what gender equality is, why gender equality is necessary, and where Japan is today and the challenges it faces.
