ASOC Student E-Conference 2024
ASOC Student E-Conference is an online conference for undergraduate and graduate students. The purpose of the conference is for students in Asia to present their research topics and engage in communication and collaboration with Asian colleagues. The Conference also welcomes related papers coming from American and European students in comparative perspectives with Asia. Thus the conference will bring together researchers and students affiliated with Asian universities and those who aspire to pursue Asian studies to discuss issues and harmonization in Asia. 

【What is ASOC?】
ASOC (Asian Studies Online Consortium) is a research and education group organized by East Asian researchers, and exploring new research and education methods using online networks under the COVID-19.

【Key Theme: The Intersection of Authoritarianism and AI: Technology and Governance in Asia】
Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming governance across Asia, both in democratic and authoritarian regimes. This conference will delve into how AI technology is influencing surveillance, control, and policy-making in these diverse contexts. We will explore the social and ethical implications of AI-driven governance, examining the potential benefits and risks associated with its implementation. By understanding the multifaceted impact of AI in Asia, we aim to shed light on the emerging forms of governance and the challenges they present.

【Call for Abstracts: ASOC Student E-Conference】

We invite you to the ASOC Student E-Conference, a virtual platform for undergraduate and graduate students from around the globe. Designed primarily for students in Asia, the conference facilitates the presentation of research topics and promotes dialogue and collaboration with Asian peers. We extend our invitation to American and European students to submit papers that offer comparative perspectives with Asia. This conference seeks to unite researchers, students affiliated with Asian universities, and those passionate about Asian studies in a discussion on issues and harmonization in Asia.
