Event Report

International Event “Urban Thinkers Campus Forum” was held by Kyushu University in ITO Campus on December 19th and 20th, 2019.The Urban Cluster which is one of cluster in our institute is supporting this event. This event, which is as a part of “*Urban Thinkers Campus (UTC)”, is held for the first time in Japan because the Faculty of Human-Environment Studies, Kyushu University has become a member of UTC. On the first day of this event, four workshops ,“Information and urban design and Planning”, ”Compact small urban centers along transit”, “Connecting small urban centers”, “Zero Energy Buildings”, were held in ITO Campus. After discussion in the workshops, there was the field trip around stations of JR CHIKUHI Line. On the second day, there were the poster session about stations of JR CHIKUHI Line and the four workshops. After that, “Urban Thinkers Campus Forum” was held as a research presentation. The forum featured talks from Makato Aratono, the Deputy Director General, Kyushu University Institute for Asian and Oceanian Studies and Akihito Ozaki, Dean of the Faculty of Human-Environment Studies, first. Second, Ananto Yudono, Professor, Hasanuddin University gave the keynote speech. The last, there were presentations about four workshops and Divigalpitiya Prasanna, Associate Professor, Faculty of Human-Environment Studies/ Urban Cluster member, overviewed activities in UTC. These talks provided the basis for discussion and interaction with international researchers to generate new ideas and research paths about sustainable cities. *Urban Tninkers Campus: It is international platforms and activities to suggest and tackle the issues of “SDGs 11 – Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable” .
