What is a Portable Health Clinic (PHC)?
Portable Health Clinic (PHC) is a mobile clinic system designed to provide proper medical care in areas with limited access to healthcare services. It achieves this by leveraging information and communication technology (ICT) and online medical consultations.
Depending on the specific objectives, the system can be equipped with additional modules for services related to lifestyle diseases, maternal and child health, ophthalmology, and more. While PHCs have been primarily deployed in Asian countries, expansion into Africa is now underway.
Collaboration with Osaka and Nagasaki Universities
By integrating digital clone technology developed by Osaka University, a new system is being built to replicate the knowledge and clinical judgment of physicians, which can be used for diagnostic support and patient education.
Furthermore, by incorporating the expertise of Nagasaki University's Institute of Tropical Medicine, which has a long history of research in Africa, we aim to build a demonstration model tailored to local conditions.
This symposium will therefore introduce a co-creative effort between Japan and Africa, showcasing a next-generation digital transformation driven by various stakeholders collaborating to meet local needs.
