Health Cluster
Today, Japan stands as the world’s leading aging society, and an increasing number of countries in Asia are following Japan's demographic path. This proposed module, the Aging Module, aims to contribute to extending health-adjusted life expectancies and enhancing the quality of later life in Asia as a whole, and those in rapidly aging countries in particular. This module will continue serving an academic part of an industry-academia-government nexus for ongoing national initiatives; it will work with the Cabinet Secretariat and domestic ICTs/tech private enterprises not only to collaboratively conduct research and help develop policies in target countries but also to introduce relevant products and services to the stakeholders in those countries. The overarching goals are three-fold: (1) pursue innovative interdisciplinary research in the field of aging, health, and technologies; (2) help enhance the presence of Japan in the target countries as the forerunner of aging societies; and (3) assist the domestic industry in expanding its fields to rapidly-aging Asia in the coming decade. While being a successor of the same-name module that has been part of the Medicine & Health Cluster since the establishment of Q-AOS, the Aging Module, as proposed herein, will pursue its mission more strategically and effectively than the previous one by collaborating with government and business sectors more closely and in greater scale.
