Vision / Mission
To provide standard medical care across the world and to achieve sustainable support, we take full advantage of ICT for remote education together with human exchanges for on-the-job trainings.
Research Output/Outcomes in 2019
Remote Medical Education Programs:
- 134 programs with 260 sites in 38 countries
- New programs: Japanese cuisine for Brazilian hospitals, Endoscopic ultrasonography in Asia, Cancer genomic medicine in Japan
New Projects:
- “A Human Resources Development Project for Filling the Gaps of Medical Standards in Myanmar.” supported by the National Center for Global Health and Medicine
- “Japan–Russia Medical Cooperation Accelerating Project,” to promote preventive medicine and advanced medicine in Russia, supported by Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare.
Domestic Telemedicine Workshops
- The first workshops were organized in Kyrgyzstan in June and in Bhutan in October.
- Annual workshops were held in Nepal (March), Vietnam (April), Indonesia (November), and Myanmar (January), where active discussion was made among doctors and supporting engineers.
Research Plan of 2020
Remote Medical Education & Human exchanges:
- Further expansion of remote education programs
- Acceleration of human exchange programs with multidisciplinary medical staff
- Expansion of programs beyond medicine
Projects:

- Russian: Japan–Russia Medical Cooperation Accelerating Project, The second phase
- Latin America: Establishment of continuous remote medical education system for early gastric cancer
- Collaborations with academic associations: Japanese Telemedicine and Telecare, Asia-Pacific Digestive Week, Mexican Association of Gastroenterology, Chilean Association of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy
Domestic Telemedicine Workshops
- The first workshop is to be organized in Kazakhstan.
- Annual workshops are to be held in Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Bhutan, and in Chile.
