Sustainable Environment Cluster
We will provide countermeasures against unpredictable global climate changes and biodiversity crisis in recent years through the following actions:
- Establishing the largest center of excellence of biodiversity research in Asia to clarify and conserve biodiversity in Asian and Oceanian Regions and to sustain the use of ecosystem functions and services.
- Focusing on the circadian clock genes to clarify the adaptation mechanism to the long-day environment to grow crops under a new environment different from the conventional cultivation area.
- Taking measures against global environmental change based on the data from the monitoring system of weather and ocean in the Pan-Pacific.
- Forming the governance methods for reducing greenhouse gases emissions and for realizing a low-carbon society.
