Research:

My work mainly focuses on the intersection of earth resources engineering, geochemistry, soil science, environmental geotechnical, and municipal engineering, taking into account the value of basic science and application prospects. The characterization of minerals and colloids, the migration model of anionic pollutants in the mineral interface and cement as well as the treatment and recycling of industrial waste are my main research topics. Considering the environmental pollution caused by the stacking of fly ash, different calcium and magnesium additives were used to carry out element inhibition leaching tests. Also, fly ash was used as a raw material for silica and aluminum to synthesize calcium silicate hydrate, zeolite and geopolymers. The study provides a more feasible way for the safe stacking and utilization of fly ash. In view of the difficulties in the safe disposal of hazardous solid waste (radioactive solid waste), the use of cement materials to stabilize/solidify contaminants such as Se and I, and discuss the occurrence mechanism of Se, I and other elements in the solidified materials. The research provides effective theoretical support for the safe disposal of related hazardous waste. Relevant research has also been carried out on the effective use of industrial solid wastes such as blast furnace slag, fly ash, and calcined dolomite. It is reasonable and effective to use industrial waste to prepare inorganic non-metallic materials such as ceramics and publish a series of related papers in top international journals. The utilization and treatment of industrial wastes provide theoretical support and application prospects.

Message:

My research is focused on the waste management including radioactive and industrial wastes, by combination of earth resources engineering, geochemistry, and municipal engineering for the safety use of the wastes and protection of the environment. I am connecting with international research institutes (e.g., Pacific northwest national laboratory, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) to study and develop new technology for the waste utilization and management.
